Hi everyone. It’s me, Olivia. This summer we did a Women’s Intro to Fly Fishing class with the amazing people who showed us how to ice fish in the winter. It was so much fun.
They showed us how to tie knots and how to put our fishing rods together. Then our teacher showed us how to cast our rods and set the hook. And guess what! She caught a little fish and didn’t even know it. So, when she pulled her fishing pole back to do another cast, the little fish flew right off the hook and hit a lady beside us in the face. We all laughed so hard, especially the lady who got hit with the little fish. She was the best. It was so funny! I think it was one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen.
We also practiced casting and setting the hook while we were on land, so I had to catch mommy and she had to catch me. We had to run around and make fish faces when we were the pretend fish. It was super silly and fun.
When we were allowed to start fishing, I caught the first fish and Mommy caught the second. They were both really tiny, but we were happy to catch them and to be able to put them back in the water so they could go home to their families. My fish was named Lily and Mommy’s was named Jordy. I had a great time fly fishing and I hope we can do it a lot more together.
What kind of fishing do you like to do? So far, I like fly fishing the best. I went fishing in the ocean a couple times too and that was really fun. Mommy said that when I was little, I would always want to go shopping for fishing dresses to wear. Now I just wear regular clothes to fish, but it makes me happy that she let me wear fishing dresses when I wanted to. I hope you will share your fish stories with us and even pictures of the fish you caught if you want to.
