I have been hearing about 1000 Steps Trail for a while now, so I finally decided to check it out. And wow, I am so glad I did! The trail is located in Huntington County, PA along the Standing Stone Trail. The hike covers approximately 850 feet elevation change over the course of 1/2 mile. I consider myself to be in pretty good shape, but I won’t lie, the hike was a little bit challenging, even though it’s such a short distance. The views from the top were worth the effort though, and I continued to hike along the beautiful Standing Stone Trail for a couple of hours before heading down. I think I would choose climbing UP all of those steps over going down any day of the week.
There are lots of great articles online about the history of the 1000 Steps that are worth the read. And if you have the chance, I highly recommend giving the hike a try. You won’t regret it. I’m looking forward to going back this fall and having Olivia join me. She is going to be blown away!
